Our Services and Programs

We offer a variety of programs and services, which we customize depending on your needs, time and budget. Once we determine what you want to achieve, we can create a program unique to you.

Following are brief descriptions of our current services and programs:

:: For Parents

:: In-Person Consultation

We offer in-person consultation, both one-time and ongoing appointments, at our offices in Mill Valley and San Rafael. In these consultations, we work specifically with your families' unique concerns and problems.

:: Telephone Consultation

We realize you have a busy schedule and we offer telephone coaching calls for your convenience. Usually these are 50-minute calls once a week and are paid on a monthly basis.

:: Transformative Parenting Groups

Our Transformative Parenting Groups provide support, education, and insight in a group setting, either on the phone or in person. These weekly two-hour groups allow parents the chance to:

  • check in about their week and specific issues they’re experiencing
  • gain a greater understanding of issues relevant to them and their family
  • hear about and learn from the experiences of other group participants
  • explore in-depth your specific problems or concerns (as time permits)

:: Workshops and Classes

We have an evolving choice of workshops and classes based on the greatest needs we see with our clients and in our communities. These can be one-time only classes or ongoing classes centering on a specific topic of concern for parents.

Current offerings include:

  • Hold On to Your Kids Introductory Talk. Based on the work of our friend and colleague Dr. Gordon Neufeld, this talk explores the most important factors in learning and behavior problems in our kids today.
  • Making Sense of Adolescence. This class is either a full-day seminar or a eight-week group for parents of adolescents. We especially love teaching this course to parents of children aged 10-12 to help prepare them for the teenage years. Understanding exactly what is going on with your adolescent can make an enormous difference in effectively parenting them (and maintaining your sanity!).
  • The Power to Parent. This 8-week course is a great introduction to our approach for parents of children of all ages. Developed by Dr. Neufeld, it covers a broad range of topics most important to parents today, such as: discipline that doesn't divide, how to hold on to (or win back) our children, why kids say "no", and much more.
  • Making Sense of Preschoolers. This course, developed by our Co-Director Todd Sarner with Dr. Gordon Neufeld, is a 6-week exploration of what is probably the most fascinating period of child development- the preschool years. We will look at both the developmental theory of the preschooler and many practical suggestions and ideas for parents of the preschooler.

  • Other workshop topics include: Cultivating Caring Children, Bullies: Their Making and Unmaking, Discipline That Doesn’t Divide and Understanding Aggression in Children.

:: For Educators

:: Seminars and Workshops

We have a number of seminars and workshops specifically tailored for the educational community and others who work with kids. We can customize a program for your school (or school system).

Some of our offerings include:

  • The Teachability Factor
  • Understanding Bullying and Aggression
  • Working With Stuck Kids
  • Making Sense of Adolescence

:: Educational Consulting & Faculty Training

We can consult with school administrators and do faculty training to address the issues that are facing your school, including poor teacher-student relations, aggression in the classroom, and underachievement among the students.
